Material Notes: Edition 01
The fibres and yarns behind our first edition.
Yarn — an essential part of the design
The choice of yarn shapes not only how a knitpiece looks. It defines how it feels, drapes, warms, breathes and changes over time. For us, material is always an essential part of the design.
For Edition 01 we selected different yarn qualities from Ferner Wolle and PRO LANA. From fine merino and Baby Soft to kid mohair with silk and tactile sheep’s wool, each yarn we use brings its own distinct character.
In our Material Notes we show you what our yarns are made of, what properties the fibres bring and why we chose them for our knitpieces.
Merino 80 & 160
100% merino wool
Merino wool comes from merino sheep and belongs to the particularly fine wool qualities.
Origin & composition
We source our merino wool from Ferner Wolle. For our knitpieces we use Merino 80 and Merino 160, both made from 100% merino wool and finished as Superwash qualities. Ferner’s merino wool comes from South America and is 100% mulesing-free.
Properties
Merino wool is known for especially fine, elastic fibres. It feels noticeably softer than many coarser wools while keeping wool’s natural properties.
It is breathable and helps regulate warmth and moisture. Wool also absorbs odours relatively slowly, so a knitpiece often stays fresh longer without washing after every wear. Natural elasticity helps the material keep its shape and resist creasing.

Baby Soft
50% organic cotton · 50% soy fibre
Baby Soft combines two plant-based fibres into a light, exceptionally soft quality with a pleasantly smooth feel on the skin.
Origin & composition
We source our Baby Soft yarn from Ferner Wolle as well. The quality is made from 50% organic cotton and 50% soy fibre and is produced by Ferner in the Lungau.
Properties
Organic cotton adds breathability and absorbency; soy fibre gives an exceptionally soft, smooth hand and a subtle sheen.
Together they create a light, flowing quality that sits comfortably on the skin and feels less warming than our wool qualities. For our Sirène line we value Baby Soft because it follows the body, supports close silhouettes and stays easy to move in.

Kid Seta
70% mohair · 30% silk
Kid Seta is an especially light, airy quality with a soft, fluffy surface and a fine, silky lustre.
Origin & composition
We source our Kid Seta quality from PRO LANA in Albbruck. The yarn is made from 70% mohair and 30% silk. The kid mohair used comes from young angora goats and counts among the especially fine mohair grades.
Properties
Kid Seta is an especially light and fluffy yarn quality. The high mohair content gives the yarn its soft, airy surface and provides warmth without making the knitpiece feel heavy. Silk complements the quality with its smooth surface and a subtle, natural lustre. Together they create a fine, airy yarn with the characteristic fibre halo that gives Kid Seta its distinctive look and hand.

Preber wool
100% sheep’s wool
Preber is a robust, tactile yarn quality made from 100% sheep’s wool. Its clearly perceptible wool structure gives it a raw, distinctive character.
Origin & composition
We source our Preber wool from Ferner Wolle. The quality is made from 100% sheep’s wool and is produced by Ferner in the Lungau.
Properties
Preber wool has a stronger, more tactile character than our fine merino qualities. Its clearly perceptible wool structure gives knitpieces more body, volume and a deliberately natural, raw surface.
With its more robust hand, the quality feels less fine and smooth than merino but more structured and expressive. That distinct wool character makes it interesting for knitpieces where materiality and surface are visibly in the foreground.
